One of the topics that always goes unnamed for the 1st half of my workshops on masculinity is homophobia. There's all kinds of talk about what keeps men from being more vulnerable, affectionate, caring, and daring when it comes to gender divisions and permissions. Sometimes i just have to call it out. It's kinda telling that new words like "bromance" need to be invented just to allow men to be close with one another without people wondering if they are gay. Any experts on the Bromance TV show out there on this topic? How about the movies I Love You Man or Humpday? News from the good folks over at Shameless Magazine: Be an Anti-Homophobia Warrior! Meet new people, learn new skills and fight homophobia. |
